K V K, S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) organized a weekly vocational training programme at KVK campus. Training Incharge, Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) gave detailed information on nursery production, suitable varieties, scientific cultivation practices of summer and winter vegetables, protected cultivation, kitchen gardening and integrated farming of vegetables. Dr. Sharma urged youth and farmers to adopt vegetable farming so that mandate of nutritional security and crop diversification can be achieved. In this training, Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) informed the farmers about the various techniques of insect, pest and disease management in vegetable crops. Dr. Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) delivered lecture on layout of vermi-compost unit, vermi-compost preparation and its usage for enhancing productivity of vegetables. On the concluding day of this camp, the farmers were taken to exposure visit of progressive farms of district Mohali. Trainees thanked the KVK team for successful conduct of this training.
