Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organized Block Level Agriculture Camp on Crop Residue Management under a project on "Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization and Machinery for In- situ Management of Crop Residue" at Bhuchar Kalan, Block Gandiwind, Tarn Taran. 80 farmers participated in this programme. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director, KVK Tarn Tarn Taran welcomed all the farmers and told them not to burn paddy straw as it will cause bad effect on environment. Dr Kumar stressed to use crop residue management machinery for effective management of paddy straw. He also stressed that weed problem is minimized in happy seeder sown wheat crop and also explained about various implements like Happy Seeder, MB plough, Mulcher, which can be used to manage paddy straw properly. He said that Paddy straw can be treated with urea for better utilization in livestock feeding. Dr. Anil Kumar stressed that many micro-nutrients and organic matter gets lost by paddy straw burning. Various University products such as mineral mixture, uromin lick, bypass fat and milk testing kit etc. were exhibited and sold to the farmers. Literature related to residue burning was also distributed to the farmers. All the farmers assured that they will disseminate message of KVK for not to burn paddy straw and will put their whole effort for residue management.
