Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran organized vocational training programme on "Scientific Bee Keeping" for rural youth of Tarn Taran district and 25 farmers participated in this training. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director, KVK, Tarn Taran inaugurated the training by welcoming all the trainees. He highlighted the activities carried out by the KVK and also emphasized on the adoption of Bee-Keeping as a subsidiary occupation for enhancing their income. Dr. Nirmal Singh Course Coordinator motivated the trainees for processing, packaging and direct marketing of honey to get more return. Dr. Anil Kumar delivered a lecture on availability of nector and pollen in different horticultural crops in different season. Dr. K. S. Matharu, Assistant Professor Plant Protection, KVK, Barnala imparted technical knowhow on different aspects of bee keeping like identification of important caste of honey bee, life cycle of European bee, seasonal management, queen bee rearing, laying worker, availability of flora, feed and feeding management, demonstration on honey extraction. Dr. Parminder Kaur highlighted the management of insect-pest and diseases of honey bee. Dr. Nikhil Ambish Mehta from Punjab State Farmer Commission said that honeybees increase the yield of crops through pollination. Progressive Bee keeper, S. Sadhu Singh shared his life experience with farmers.
