KVK Booh Celebrates Mahila Kisan Diwas

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran celebrated Mahila Kisan Diwas at Village Toot, District- Tarn Taran under the theme "Role of women in agriculture, women empowerment, nutrition and income generation etc". Ranjeet Kaur from Khalsa Self Help Group was also felicitate by KVK Tarn Taran for her valuable services to the farming community during COVID-19 Pandemic by distributing free face masks to the farmers. The event was coordinated by Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Home Science and she has also given the message about the importance of this day. She delivered lecture on role of women agricultural and in allied sectors. He enlightened the women participants regarding drudgery reducing implement developed by various agricultural institutes in order to reduce physical as well as mental strain of farm women. By empowering women, our nation can achieve new heights in many fields including agriculture. During this programme 27 farm women have participated and interacted with KVK team. Dr. Dhillon shared the information on scenario of Women Empowerment in Punjab, simultaneously, discussed the role of Food and Nutrition in women's income generation. Besides these, Group discussion cum debate on establishment of entrepreneurship through promotion of nutritional aspect of food was conducted by Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Similarly, the scientists interacted with potential entrepreneurs and answered their queries regarding the setting up of a new venture. Furthermore, KVK Scientists motivated the farm women to grow their entrepreneurs through learning from KVK. They also assured farm women for providing information related to skill development in food processing and value addition for better earning and livelihood. Dr. Dhillon thanked all the trainees for sparing their valuable time to conduct this programme.
