K.V.K. Mohali organized 5 days training programme on "In situ Crop Residue Management" at Village Baraudi

Krishi Vigyan Kendra S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organized 5 days training programme on "In situ Crop Residue Management" at Village Baraudi under the project Crop Residue Management. Twenty five farmers and rural youth participated in above mentioned training programme. While inaugurating the training, Deputy Director (Training) cum PI, Dr. Yashwant Singh appealed farmers to not burn the crop residue and manage it by use of suitable machinery. Training Incharge cum Co-PI, Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) co-ordinated the whole training programme and delivered lectures on utilization of crop residue as mulching in horticultural crops. Dr Shashipal, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) told farmers about use of paddy straw as animal feed and in other ways. S. Navjot Singh Brar (Assistant Professor-Agronomy) discussed about various crop residue management machines and production practices of Rabi crops. Dr. Balwinder Kumar Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Tarn Taran) shared his views on cultivation of fodder crops and soil management. He also delivered lecture on various crop residue management techniques. Dr. Parul Gupta (Assistant Professor-Home Science) delivered lecture on use of straw in household activities. On this occasion, village Sarpanch S. Manmohan Singh, S. Ravinder Singh, Retd. Teacher and farmer S. Ajit Singh and S. Pritpal Singh also expressed their views. Visit to farmer's field and literature was also distributed during this training. On the last day of training, trainees thanked KVK faculty for this training and assured their future participation.
