Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Booh, Tarn Taran organized a seven days vocational training course at Patti, Tarn Taran. Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (T), KVK, Tarn Taran inaugurated the event with his motivating speech for moving forward to adoption of subsidiary occupations regardless routine mundane activities. There was a group of 50 rural ladies who received specialized training under "Popularization of traditional embroidery of Punjab through different techniques" theme. Lectures regarding formation of self-help group, marketing of products, stitching and embroidery were delivered during the programme. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor (Home Science) coordinated this programme and demonstrated various techniques of embroideries to the participants. Farm women were encouraged towards learning by doing principle in order to attain maximum knowledge and skills regarding various types of embroideries and fabric drafting. Dr Prerna Kapila, Assistant Professor (Home Science), KVK, Amritsar demonstrated drafting and cutting techniques for different embroidered fabrics as well as indo-western dresses. Nirmal Singh, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) has delivered lecture on different strategies in marketing of prepared products in order to make this venture profitable. Participants were enthuasitic to learn during the whole extension activity. Certificates to the trainees were distributed on the conclusion of the programme.
