Veterinary Varsity organises Farmers awareness and training camps to discuss

Guru Angad Dev Veterianry and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana organised four Farmer’s Training camp and three Training programme in Ludhiana district at Khanna, Raikot, Pakhowal, Lehal, Leelan, Jagraon and Bhumaddi village under the sponsorship of Ministry of  Environment, Forest and Climate change, GOI. Dr P S Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science revealed that around 90 poor and marginal farmers were present in each camp and training. The agenda of these camps was to enlighten the farmers about the better reproduction, nutrition and management systems of farm animals during extreme climatic conditions. During camp various lectures were delivered by the experts regarding how to prevent effect of climate change on reproduction in farm animals, ensuring green fodder throughout the year by silage making and general management to prevent heat stress in dairy animals. Training programme involved lectures on estrus detection and synchronization by Dr P S Brar, and M Honparkhe (Assistant Gynaecologist), on better nutritional management by Drs J S Hundal, Jasmine, J S Lamba and on housing management by Dr S S Sodhi. There were demonstrations on detection of nitrate toxicity by Dr V. Mahajan, and differentiation of clean and dirty estrual discharges by Dr M Honparkhe. Knowledge on making of tube silage was shared by Dr Jasmine and J S Hundal. Farmers interacted with the experts for their problems and gave positive feedback about these camps.
