Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Booh, Tarn Taran in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) organized Kisan Gosthi cum Exhibition at Sidhu Farms, Tarn Taran. Er. DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran was the chief guest of the programme. The main objective of the Gosthi was interaction of Deputy Commissioner with the progressive and small farmers of Tarn Taran district for the promotion of Dairy, Piggery, goat farming, mushroom cultivation and bee keeping. Speaking on the inaugural session of the programme, Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) highlighted various technologies released by the GADVASU, Ludhiana for increasing farmers income levels and enlightened scope of entrepreneurship in the field of dairy sector and other allied fields. Dr Kumar told about the mandate and thrust areas of Krishi Vigayn Kendra, Tarn Taran. He further highlighted major activities of KVK for the promotion of livestock sector in the district for enhancing farmers’ economy. Dr SS Hassan stressed upon the adoption of honeybee and fish farming and suggested that these enterprises may prove boon for farmers. Progressive and other farmers trained by KVK presented their views. Farmers really appreciated the efforts of KVK and thank the KVK experts for their active cooperation at every step.
Sh. Kharbanda assured farmers for the same. He appreciated the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra on the basis of positive feedback from farmers’ end. An exhibition showing the activities of the KVK and the recommended practices for the farmers on various aspects of Agriculture and Livestock production was exhibited in the Camp. Further, KVK displayed the Literature and Publications of the GADVASU for the benefit and information to the farmers. Mineral mixture, by pass fat and uromin lick prepared by GADVASU, Leaf colour chart and vermi compost produced at KVK were also displayed and sold on the occasion.
The farmers showed an enormous response and taken keen interest in silage technology, mineral mixture nutrition and bypass fat usage. Literature on ‘Mitti di Sehat Sambhal’ and ‘Hare Chare da Aachar Banauna’ was also distributed to the farmers. The representatives of nationalised and cooperative banks were also invited for a proper guidance on loan issues may be provided to the farmers.
