Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology
VETERINARY-PHARMACOLOGY---TOXICOLOGY

The Department of Veterinary Pharmacology was established in 1969 along with the inception of the College of Veterinary Science. Department imparts teaching, research and extension activities in the disciplines of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Diagnostic services are offered to livestock owners, farmers and veterinarians related to toxicity cases. Adequate facilities for the award of B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc. and Ph.D degrees are available in the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology. In addition, the department is also involved in various refresher courses pertaining to training of veterinary officers and farmers.

Collaborative Research Centre for Veterinary Ayurveda

The Collaborative Research Centre for Veterinary Ayurveda (CRCVA) has beenestablished at the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, GuruAngad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, Punjabthrough a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Central Council forResearch in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India,New Delhi and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(GADVASU), Ludhiana, Punjab in 2016. This is the first and only of its kind centre in India to promoteresearch in new and upcoming branch of veterinary Ayurveda.The core objectives of this centre are:

  • To explore and revive ancient manuscripts/ rare books on Veterinary Ayurveda
  • Documentation and publication of traditional practices and local health tradition in Veterinary Ayurveda
  • Scientific validation of both textual and traditional practices including development of new formulation.
