The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry was set up in 2019 along with the establishment of College of Veterinary Science in Rampura Phul, Bathinda. This department mainly focuses on teaching, research and extension activities in the disciplines of Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary Biochemistry. Currently, this department has well-qualified three Physiologists and two biochemists to impart high standards of education to undergraduate and D.V.Sc. and AHT students. The department offers 4+1 credit hour course of Veterinary Physiology to first Professional B. V. Sc. and A.H students, 2+1 credit course of Veterinary Biochemistry to second Professional B. V. Sc. and A.H students, 2+2 credit hour course to First Year D.V.Sc. and AHT students along with Department of Veterinary Anatomy. The faculty of the department is also involved in teaching Veterinary Clinical Practice (VCP-II) Course of 0+6 credit hours to the fourth year Professional B. V. Sc. and A.H students. The department has well established laboratories for carrying out efficient teaching in Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry and is equipped with Spectrophotometer, ECG, Semi-automatic Biochemistry analyzer and full automatic hematology analyzer to conduct research on the physiological and biochemical aspects related to animal welfare.
