The Department of Veterinary Parasitology at the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul was founded in 2021. Its core objectives encompass teaching, research, and outreach endeavors in the realm of Veterinary Parasitology. The Department plays a pivotal role in educating B.V.Sc. & A.H. as well as Diploma students in Veterinary Parasitology. Additionally, it offers clinical services for diagnosing parasitic infections. Moreover, the Department is currently engaged in an international research project titled "Preliminary Pilot Evaluation of Atypical-Human Trypanosomiasis (a-HT) due to Trypanosoma evansi in Punjab, India," funded by PERZODE, France. It actively collaborates with farmers through events like kisan melas and clinical camps to raise awareness about parasitic diseases and their control measures. This involves publishing bulletins, circulars, and articles in various magazines and newspapers to educate the public about parasitic diseases. The faculty members contribute to professional societies such as the Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (IAAVP) and the Indian Society for Parasitology (ISP).
