The Department of Animal Nutrition was set up in 2020 after a year of establishment of College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, Bathinda. The department focuses primarily on teaching, research and extension activities in the discipline of Animal Nutrition. The department aims to offer various courses of Animal Nutrition including Principles of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology, Applied Ruminant Nutrition and Applied Non Ruminant Nutrition. Department offers course of Elementary animal nutrition for students of Diploma of Veterinary science and Animal Husbandry. The department has well established laboratories equipped with latest instruments for carrying out Undergraduate teaching in Animal Nutrition. The department provides facilities for quality check of feed samples which includes analysis of animal feed for its moisture content, protein content, fat content, fiber and ash content. Free of cost consultancy services on feed formulation, ration balancing are provided to farmers to improve production and reproductive performance of animals. Area specific Mineral mixture used in livestock feeding is also available by department for sale purpose.
