Teaching and Other Appointments

  • I chose academic career because I enjoy teaching and love the satisfaction that I get after making students understand the concepts which othrwise seem to be difficult. I have done specialization in Pathology and being a subject expert, I can teach various courses falling under Veterinary Pathology viz. General, Systemic, Special, Clinical, Avian Pathology and Oncology. My teaching focuses on sharing the knowledge of pathology among students in a systematic manner. This will help them in understanding the basics of etiology and pathogenesis of disease in animals and their human implications . I have a practical exposure in  post-mortem diagnosis of various small and large animals including avian species. Besides that I am well versed  with various routine diagnostic techniques viz. Hematology, Cytology, Histopathology, Immunohistopathology.

Area of Research Interests

  • My area of research is avian species which special reference to poultry and pigeons. My research focuses on various viral diseases prevailing in poultry birds of Punjab region and pigeons of Jammu region. The title of my MvSc thesis was “Studies on Immunosuppressive Viral Diseases of Poultry with Special Reference to Characterization of Lesions and Tissue Tropism of Viruses”  and PhD thesis was “Pathology and Host Immune Response in Pigeons Affectecd with Newcastle Disease Virus”. Besides, I hold keen interest in Oncology, wildlife diseases, hematologic disorders, Toxicopathology and Lab animals diseases as well.
