The College of Animal Biotechnology is presently undertaking basic and applied research in all areas of biotechnology related to health and production of the livestock and companian animals.
The identified goals are as:
To develop improved diagnostics and point-of-care (POC) diagnostics capable of rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of pathogens responsible for animal and zoonotic diseases.
To develop improved multi-component vaccines for commonly occurring and economically important diseases of animals.
To identify genome-wide genetic markers for early selection of animals, for economically important traits, disease resistance and parentage determination.
To initiate stem cells and regenerative therapy in livestock.
To develop and disseminate technologies for improvement of animal health and production.
