The Department of Bioinformatics is one of the three departments of the College of Animal Biotechnology. The focus of the department is towards in-silico analyses of genomes, parentage determination, and marker identification for molecular characterization of livestock and companion animals. The department also provides assistance and consultation on computational analysis of the biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics) generated from other departments of the college and university. Additionally, the department is engaged in the development of therapeutic applications of stem cells and their products for livestock and pet animals using molecular biology and computational approaches. The department is newly venturing towards the development and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the Internet of Things (IoT), intended to be used for livestock by the farmers.
