"Department of Animal Biotechnology" addresses the questions of molecular mechanism/ pathogenesis/ host-pathogen interactions of emerging and re-emerging pathogens and non-infectious diseases using both wet laboratory and in-silico tools of computational biology/ bioinformatics (genomics, proteomics, and evolutionary approaches).

Major thrust area includes:

• Identification & characterization of biomolecules vis-a-vis marker assisted selection implicated in reproduction, production, disease & stress tolerance in livestock.
• Immunomodulation to enhance animal health and reproduction.
• Rapid assay of semen quality evaluation of dairy animals.
  

Future Perspective: 

• Characterization of genes/markers associated with production, fertility, disease & stress resilience in livestock species.
• Genome editing to improve the quality of product and climate resilience in the livestock.
