The department has set goals of imparting best teaching in Veterinary Pathology. The department endeavors to equip the students with the latest knowledge and techniques in early disease diagnosis; to make them self confident in accepting challenges not only in the country but also abroad for the cause of animal welfare. In research the goals include research on poultry and large animal diseases and research on rabies.

Immediate focus

• Clinico-pathological and Cyto-pathological studies for diagnosis of various animal and poultry diseases.
• Immuno-pathological studies of diseases of poultry and their diagnosis.
• Ante-mortem diagnosis of Rabies using immuno-pathological techniques.
• Immuno-pathological studies on diagnostic and prognostic aspects of canine mammary neoplasm
• Toxico-pathological studies using laboratory animals, fish and Poultry as models

Long term focus

• To understand the disease process(es) and progression.
• Strengthening of disease diagnosis and prognosis through bio-molecular and immuno-pathological approaches.
• To create repository and databank of various pathological specimens, Paraffin blocks and slides for continued analysis, review and retrospective studies.
• To develop digitalized teaching modules based on salient research findings and outcome(s) for knowledge dissemination.
• Up-gradation and modernization of necropsy facilities for multipurpose usage.
