Dr. Mrigank Honparkhe has joined as Head of the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, College of Veterinary Sciences, GADVASU campus on 15 March 2021. Dr. Honparkhe born on 08 February 1974 did his graduation from College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, MHOW, JNKVV, Jabalpur and Master’s degree from PAU, Ludhiana Punjab. He joined the services of the Punjab Agricultural University as Assistant Gynaecologist in 2001. He joind the PhD program from GADVASU in the year 2008 and was awarded with Canadian commonwealth scholarship in the year 2010 by Canadian bureau of international education to carry out collaborative research work of his PhD degree at Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr.Honparkhe has worked in various external funded research projects as PI (3 projects funded by UGC, NAFCC, RKVY) and Co-PI (12 projects funded by DBT, DST,ICAR, RKVY, AHC/Eli Lilly Company ELANCO, Indian herbs) in the field of animal reproduction and currently working as Nodal officer of PMTS, NAHEP IDP project ICAR, New Delhi. His research interests are manipulations of follicular dynamics in cattle and buffaloes, alternative therapies to antibiotics for treatment of uterine infections in cattle, buffaloes and mares, Assisted Reproductive technologies like Ovum-pick up and Embryo transfer and reproductive ultrasonography to diagnose and treat infertility in livestock and pets. He has been honored with Best Young Scientist Award (2002, 2006 2008); Professor Nil’s Lagerlof Award, (2011 and 2015); Prof. N.C. Sharma Memorial Award, (2011) by Indian Society for Study on Animal Reproduction (ISSAR). He was awarded an International travel award (ITS, 2019) by Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi for attending International Buffalo Congress at Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Honaprkhe has published 22 International and 110 National research articles, 43 Clinical cases reports, 41 extension articles, 08 lead papers, 45 invited lectures to trainings, 06 books/compendiums, 08 manuals and 05 CAFT knowledge based volumes as editor. He has guided 08 MVSc and 01 PhD students as major advisor and 25 MVSc and PhD students as co-advisor for their thesis research programs.
