Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University inaugurated Home Science Lab set up at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) has worked under the guidance of Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director, KVK Booh for setting up various food processing units. Facilities such as Khoya making machine, cream separator, pasta making machine, solar dryer, packaging machine, sewing machines along with fish processing machinery are available in the lab. Farmers and farm women can avail these facilities anytime from the KVK. They can also avail health and diet guidance from KVK. Textile corner has also been made where different types of embroidery techniques are demonstrated to the farm women. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated KVK team for this lab and suggested that moveable machines should be taken to the doorstep of farmers so that they can be benefitted the most.
On the same day Technology Information Unit was also inaugurated by Dr. Rajbir Singh Brar, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, PAU Campus, Ludhiana. It is the hub of various technologies which are being disseminated to farm families by the KVK. Farmers can take an insight of all the activities of KVK from this unit. Here all technologies related to Animal Science, Soil Science, Home Science, Fisheries, Horticulture and Agronomy are being displayed. The unit contains working models of different technologies such as vermicompost, Silage Making, Integrated Fish Farming Unit, Integrated pig cum goat unit. One of the technology appreciated by all was technology of handcrafted water hyacinth with the motto of “Waste to Wealth”. Mrs. Kulwinder Kaur, an entrepreneur, collects water hyacinth from the Harike Pattan River and crafts mats, file covers, baskets out of it. KVK literature was also displayed in the unit. This unit also contains glimpses of various extension activities being organised from time to time in KVK. Dr. Inderjeet Singh and Director ATARI after seeing the unit expressed happiness and praised KVK efforts for bringing all the latest technologies related to various disciplines under one roof which definitely bring positive changes . KVK Tarn Taran is one of few KVK among the Zone-1 KVKs where such a beautiful display of technologies related to all disciplines exhibited, said Director ICAR-ATARI Zone-1, PAU, Ludhiana.
During this event, Maschio Gaspardo India Pvt. Ltd handed over company Super Seeder free of cost to the to the Vice Chancellor and KVK officials under CSR activity for the benefit of farmers. KVK thanked Mr. Buta Singh Gill from Tarn Taran for this courteous gift.
