College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul pass out veterinarians will serve the entire state and the facilities developed here will be a boon for the livestock farmers of the area. These views were expressed by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) on his visit at college campus. To promote Animal Husbandry practices in South Western Punjab, The Govt. of Punjab established a Veterinary College at
Rampura Phul as a constituent college of GADVASU. Vice Chancellor, GADVASU was there to review the working and facilities of the college. He encouraged the entire faculty and employees to do their duty for the welfare of the society and for the betterment of the livestock and farmers. He assured his full for the progress of the college.
Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Dean of the college informed that college has well-equipped Teaching Veterinary Hospital to cater to the needs of large and small animal health care. The latest diagnostic equipments including X-ray machines, Ultra Sound etc. are available. The college has a well-established diagnostic laboratory for the examination of blood, urine, faeces and tissues etc. The first batch of 80 students was admitted to college in 2019. Now, admission process for the second batch is underway. The college campus is spread over an area of 67 acres comprises of College Buildings, hospital, animal farms, and fodder production area and hostels, guest house and staff quarters. Dr. Chatli added that the institute has marked its presence in the region with the conduction of many free health camps, Anti-rabies vaccination camps, Veterinary awareness camps. He revealed that we are planning to start various training programmes such as Dairy, Piggery, Goat farming and value-added milk & meat products. The area specific mineral mixture, vermicomposting, silage production, mastitis testing kits, milk testing kits etc will also be made available in the college for the benefit of the farmers. College is also providing facilities for Artificial Insemination with superior quality semen to improve the livestock productivity in the area. College is also planning to start various certificate courses for the unemployed youth and small entrepreneurs.
