Landscaping wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University organized Tree Plantation Drive in campus. Tree plantation drive was inaugurated by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU. Plantation work was carried out in and around the College of Animal Biotechnology, School of Public Health, Dairy Farm, College of Veterinary Science, Silver Jubilee block, College of Dairy Science & technology and university hostels. This years’ plantation drive was dedicated to 400th birth anniversary of Shri. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Different types of plants viz; trees, Neem, Koelreuteria /Golden rain tree, Kusum, Pilkhan/Ficus virens, Sukhchain, Amaltas, Gulmohar, etc., Fruit trees. Mango, Jamun, Guava, citrus etc. and shrub plants/small trees, Hamelia, Chandani, Plumeria rubra, Plumeria alba etc. were planted.
All the preventive measures related to Covid-19 Pandemic were taken while carrying out plantation work. All the university officers planted one tree each. Dr. Inderjeet Singh appreciated the tree plantation drive and highlighted the importance of planting trees to protect our nature. He advised for carrying out plantation work in all the KVKs and constituent colleges of university. Plantation work carried out last year was reviewed and it was ensured that all the planted saplings were protected.
Dr. Satyavan Rampal, DSW cum EO congratulated the team of landscape wing Dr. M. S. Bal, Joginder Singh, Kuldip Singh, Mukhraj Singh & other workers for organizing of plantation drive in university campus. Dr. M. S. Bal, Landscaping In-Charge, told that during this monsoon season landscaping wing will plant a total of 400 trees (including fruit trees) and more than 1000 ornamental shrubs. Dr. S. Rampal, extended his gratitude towards all the Officers, faculty/staff members for participation in plantation drive.
