72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana with great enthusiasm. Dr. AS Nanda, Vice–Chancellor, GADVASU unfurled the National Flag in the University premises. He inspected the 1st Pb. R & V squadron of NCC Cadets. Dr. Nanda, firstly paid rich tributes to all those who fought for country’s freedom. He said that we all must remember and salute them.
In his address, Dr. Nanda said that we should come forward to save our citizens from malnutrition. To work for the nutritional security should be our major objective and duty. He said that increasing tendency of consuming synthetic drugs is very fatal for our society. One should contribute to save our society from these types of woes. Dr. Nanda emphasized that as a veterinarian we should try our best to control the fatal diseases of livestock and animals. To increase the farmers income should be our target. He revealed that with our research work we can contribute a lot to clean our environment. Dr. Nanda informed that in the ICAR ranking this year we earned an honour to place our university at the top position amongst all the State Agricultural Universities of the country. He said that strengthening of students exchange programme with other international universities may develop a new note in clinical and research activities.
Dr. Nanda while explaining the future targets vowed that imparting quality education and dissemination of knowledge/technologies/practices at farmer’s door step to enhance profitability from dairying, fisheries, piggery, poultry and goat will be top priorities.
An impressive musical and choreographed function was also organized by students of varsity. The celebration was attended by Officers of the GADVASU, Heads of Departments, faculty, staff and students.
