Delegation from University of Tasmania, Australia visited GADVASU

A delegation from University of Tasmania (UoT), Australia and Australia Education and Career Consultants (AECC) Global visited College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana to have an interactive meet with the B.F.Sc final year students, regarding career opportunities in fisheries at UoT. Mr. Nitin Sharma, Country Representative for South Asia, apprised the students about the details, eligibility and admission to various courses in fisheries at UoT. He also explained about the postgraduate courses in Marine and Antarctic sciences, offered by the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (UoT), for fisheries graduate with scholarship (based on the merit basis) and permission for part time job of maximum four hours a day to meet the living expenses during their study period. Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Placement officer, GADVASU conveyed that the placement cell of the university is instrumental in organising such interactive meets at the campus for creating awareness among the students for placement and higher study opportunities across the nation and the borders. He further added that it will certainly help the students to explore better career options in reputed academic institutes in India and abroad. Dr. Prabjeet Singh, Chairman of Placement Committee, College of Fisheries, thanked the delegation for visiting the College and briefing the graduating batch of B.F.Sc. students about PG courses in fisheries in Australia, which will definitely help in shaping their professional placement in future. 

The Dean, College of Fisheries said it is very important to enhance placement prospects of the students and it is only possible by elevating the education standards and grooming the students with substantial exposure to academic and placement opportunities at State, national and global levels. Dr. Amarjeet Singh Nanda, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU informed that university is producing quality veterinary, dairy and fishery graduates for catering the livestock sector of the Nation. He further added that placement cell of the university is working efficaciously to ensure that all the graduates from the university are able to explore wider range of placement and academic windows for a brighter future and work efficiently for the welfare of the livestock sector for better animal health and enhanced food security.
