Vet Varsity Scientists Bring Laurels at the National Conference

Faculty and students from the Centre for One Health, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, earned prestigious accolades at the XX Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS) and the National Symposium on “Integrating One Health: Bridging the Gap at human-animal-environment Interfaces.” The event, organized by Krantisinh Nana Patil College of Veterinary Science, Shirwal, under the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur.
During the conference, Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor, and President of IAVPHS, delivered a compelling presidential address emphasizing the significance of strengthening One Health at the national level by leveraging technological advancements in the animal health sector. Dr. Gill also motivated the young scientists to carry out the applied work to address the health challenges at Human-Animal-Environment interface. Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Director of the Centre for One Health at Vet Varsity, was awarded the prestigious Dr. R.K. Agarwal Food Safety Award in recognition of his outstanding academic and research contributions to food safety. Dr. Bedi also presented a lead lecture on tackling emerging zoonoses in One Health framework. Dr. Randhir Singh received the Best Scientific Presentation Award for his research on antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Pankaj Dhaka was honoured with a Best Scientific Presentation Award for his applied work on farm biosecurity. Vet Varsity students made a strong impression as well, Dr. Preeti received the Best MVSc Thesis Award, while Dr. Gaurav received the Oral Presentation Award for his Ph.D research work.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor praised the efforts of the Centre for One Health’s faculty and students, applauding their national recognition and encouraging them to continue taking initiatives to strengthen the One Health framework regionally and nationally.
