07 September 2017 - Vet Varsity remembers its former Deans on Teachers' Day

 A good engineer will make good infrastructure and a good doctor will treat the patients dexterously but a good teacher will develop a whole generation of good engineers, doctors, politicians and bureaucrats for the holistic development of any country.  These views were expressed by Dr A S Nanda, Vice Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at the Teachers' Day celebrations in university campus. Teachers' day was celebrated at College of Veterinary Sciences by implanting palm trees in the fond memory of five former Deans of this college at the new building of Small Animal Hospital. The palms were planted on the name of Drs. Bakhshish Singh Gill, Balbir Singh Paul, Balwant Singh, Jugrag Singh Dhillon and Harpal Singh Sandhu. Thirty-five retired teachers including former Deans graced the occasion and appreciated the progress made by the college in particular and the university in general. Dr. Nanda felicitated the former teachers of the college for their services to the development of veterinary education in Punjab. In his address he remembered the role of former teachers in bringing the university amongst top veterinary universities in India. He exhorted the teaching community to work towards excellence in every sphere to make the college and university globally the best.

Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, Post Graduate Studies revealed the academic and administrative contributions of former deans and teachers. He said that this university is fruit of their hard work as they contributed with full dedication and zeal. Now it is challenge to existing faculty to set new targets for overall up-liftment of institute he added.   

Former teachers while addressing the august gathering called upon the young faculty to be role model for the students and be committed to the great mission of teaching for all-round development of the students.

Dr Parkash Singh Brar, Dean College of Veterinary Science thanked all the officers and both former and present faculty members and otherhonourable dignitaries for their presence on the occasion. Dr P N Dwivedi coordinated the whole function and managed the stage activities.
