About the School of Animal Biotechnology
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU) was established on April 21, 2006 at Ludhiana, Punjab along with the establishment of Department of Animal Biotechnology. Lateron, this had been upgraded to School of Animal Biotechnology in the year 2010. School's research programs are focused on (1) Animal Genomics and Bioinformatics; (2) Bacteriology, Virology and Molecular Diagnostics and (3) Stem Cell and Molecular Biology.
School of Animal Biotechnology post-graduate program offers Masters and PhDs in Animal Biotechnology. Our students after completion of their degree programs, may directly go for higher studies, post-doctoral programs and government and private jobs in colleges and livestock sectors.Our Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with various national research institute like NDRI, IVRI, NBAGR and international institutes like University of Saskatchewan, Canada and University of Sydney, Australia offers collaborations in students’ research.
The School of Animal Biotechnology is going to organize a practical training for four and six weeks covering various facets of Biotechnology. The training will include lectures andpracticalon certain molecular techniques.
The broad areas of training will include as under:
1.       Cell and Molecular Biology
2.       Animal genomics
3.       Use of Bioinformatics in Molecular Biology
4.       Molecular Diagnostics including DNA, RNA and Protein isolation, PCR, real time qPCR, immunohistochemistry, DNA fingerprinting 
Duration: 4 weeks and 6 weeks starting from 1st June, 2017
Course Fees: Participants are requested to pay cash, a sum of Rs. 5000 (for 4 weeks) and Rs. 6000/- (for 6 weeks) as registration fee. The registration fee shall be deposited in cash at the time of registration in the office.

Lodging and Boarding: Arrangements for the stay of the student participants during the training program will have to be made by the students on their own.

Number of Participants: The maximum number of participants shall be 30 (maximum).

Participants and Eligibility: Courses will be open for thestudents who have completed or pursuing Bachelor degree in any branch of biological science.

How to apply: The application for participation may be sent through email ( and a copy (cc) to sethi116@gmail.comin enclosed prescribed format. It should be emailed to the Course Director latest by a 2-days before the date of commencement of the training. TA & DA of the participants will be borne by participants/sponsoring institutions/ organizations but not by the course organizer.
The participants will be selected on ‘first come first serve’ basis.
