Guidelines for the award of Dr Gurdev Singh Khush Scholarship  

The guidelines and financial liability year wise for the award Dr Gurdev Singh Khush Scholarship to the students of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana are as per details given below:

1.     The scholarships shall be awarded for all the undergraduate degree programmes offered by the University @ Rs 2000/- per student per month.

2.    Two scholarships (One General merit and One Rural merit) for the first year students of B.V.Sc & A.H. degree programme and one scholarship each for first year students of B. Tech (Dairy Science) and B.F.Sc. degree programmes shall be awarded in the first instance on the basis of the merit list of students in the Combined Entrance Test (CET) prepared by the office of Registrar, GADVASU Ludhiana at the time of their admission. In case two or more students have the same percentage of marks in entrance examination, they shall share scholarship equally. For the subsequent years, the scholarships shall be awarded in the beginning of each academic year on merit on the basis of Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA)/Overall Credit Point Average (OCPA) of the previous year(s).

3.    The Dean of the concerned college shall invite the application for the award of the scholarship by displaying the merit list of eligible students obtained from Registrar for ten days on the notice boards of the respective colleges. After obtaining the application and considering objections, if any, the list of scholarship awardees shall be prepared.

4.    Chairman Academic Affairs Committee of the respective college shall scrutinize the list of eligible students as per the terms and conditions of the scholarship. The standing committee consisting of Deans of three constituent colleges of the university (Senior most Dean asChairman) and two representatives from Dr Khush Foundation will review the applications and interview the candidates for the award of scholarships and a final list shall be prepared.

5.     The Dean of the concerned college shall display the final list of scholarship awardees on the notice board of the respective colleges for inviting objections, if any. The selected student needs to inform the office of Dean in writing regarding acceptance of the scholarship within two weeks of display of the list. Failure to do so will forfeit his/ her claim for the scholarship. In such cases the scholarship shall be awarded to the next eligible student provided he/ she fulfills the prescribed conditions.

6.     In case a student surrenders the scholarship during/ after end of the academic year on account of award of some other scholarship or any other reason, it may be awarded to the next eligible candidate with retrospective effect provided the student to whom it is awarded is on rolls of the university.

7.    The scholarships awarded to the students shall be tenable for one
academic session only subject to the student maintaining a minimum OGPA/ OCPA 7.00 (10.00 basis) in each academic year (For B.V.Sc. & A.H. student) or semester (For B.Tech. and B.F.Sc. student). If in any academic year/semester he/she falls below the limit, he/ she shall lose the scholarship. The scholarship thus vacated shall be awarded to the student with the highest OGPA/ OCPA from amongst the non-scholarship holders of the class concerned. For B.Tech (Dairy) and B.F.Sc. students, the scholarship vacated shall be re-awarded from the beginning of the second semester and shall be tenable for the remaining part of the academic session.

8.     In order to be eligible for consideration of award of this scholarship, a student must have successfully completed all prescribed courses in the previous year in the first attempt. For counting the credit hours, both credit and non-credit courses shall be taken into account.

9.    The students opting for their claim under rural merit shall have to certify and produce original certificates of having passed the eligibility examination (10+2 Certificate) from a rural school/institute and having residence in a village/rural area (Residence/Domicile Certificate).        

10.  The students having cleared the examination/improved credit points through compartment/supplementary examination will not be considered for award of scholarship.

11.    The payment of the scholarship shall be made for 12 months to the students of all the degree programmes, except for Fifth Professional B.V.Sc. & A.H. students, who will be paid for one semester ending the final examination of the Fifth professional year comprising of only one semester.

12.    If a student is found guilty of gross misconduct and is placed on conduct probation (CP), his/her scholarship shall be withdrawn and shall be offered to the next eligible student.

13.    The scholarship shall be awarded only to those students, who are not availing benefit of any other scholarship/fellowship offered by the university or any other Government or non-government agency. 

14.    Unless, specifically provided through these rules, the other conditions as contained in the regulation relating to the award of University Merit scholarship by GADVASU, Ludhiana for UG students shall apply mutatis mutandis for the award of this scholarship.
